Ray Haq Holistic Therapies – Cupping Manchester

An Introduction To Cupping Therapy

Before you read on, please note i do not do “wet cupping” or Hijama and bloodletting as it is also known.
Cupping is a treatment which uses the “vacuum” effect, which seems to kick start the system into a “wake up” phase. The tissues get saturated with fresh blood while the vacuum pulls stagnant blood out of the area. As we get older especially more in people over 40, the body starts to slow down it circulation and metabolic waste processes. Simply put, we form stagnation under the skin. Therefore cupping therapy is an excellent form of cleansing for the circulatory system. The most common form and the one that I use in therapy is glass cupping, often with a lit flame to create heat. This makes it more effective at pulling blood to surface for toxic release.

Cupping For Injury & Training

Injury or faulty posture can also causes joints and tissues to become frozen and therefore stuck. Cupping loosens up the area in pain so that any manipulation needed is easier to perform. Any area of the body needs food and oxygen to survive and cupping helps provide the tissues with life giving nutrients aiding recovery from injury or pain.  Applied to the back, arms, legs and anywhere on the body where a greater surface of the skin needs to have more blood flow in order to relieve pain .

Cupping for Cellulite Reduction

Causes of Cellulite

Cellulite is mainly caused because of a genetic condition which causes fluid retention, an inefficient lymphatic drainage system and weak veins that result in ineffective blood circulation. That is not to say our own lifestyle choices, such as diet and lack of exercise are not also contributing factors. People who eat too much fat and carbohydrates tend to store more fat and this often results to cellulite production.Hormonal imbalances too can also cause the development of more fat cells. Having a sedentary lifestyle, sitting and standing for long periods of time and smoking may also cause the development of cellulite.

All together these factors result in the fat cells lying under the skin converting into cellulite. This cellulite pushes up the cords connecting the skin to the underlying muscle and creates the ungainly appearance of the dimpled, orange peel look on the skin that is a sign of cellulite.

How Cupping Therapy Helps Cellulite

When suction is applied on the skin, the reverse pressure causes the cellulite to break up. Blood circulation is stimulated, and the fat and toxins that are released are moved to the lymph drainage network. Since cupping therapy also promotes a more efficient drainage of the lymph nodes, these toxins are quickly eliminated from the body. Cupping is also known to ease the cords connecting the skin and muscle. In this way, fluid build-up is reduced and the skin develops a more cellulite-free healthy appearance.

Additional Advantages of Cupping

Since each cupping session can be customized for maximum effect on every individual patient, the therapy provides many other positives. Patients have reported the detoxification of the body, a firmer, tighter appearance of the skin, and removal of stretch marks, acne and scars. The body is more shapely and better blood circulation results in the appearance of a healthier looking skin.

Cupping therapy sessions are most effective when performed by an expert therapist. To reduce the redness caused by the cupping, healers might also perform massage therapy using moisturizing oils. Another technique to treat cellulite is gua sha massage that uses a board like tool pulled across the skin.
